Hello Autumn!

What a week! We are officially settled into our new physical location and have our autumn collection on the move! 🥳💜 Outside of our normal eBay outlet, we have also attempted Etsy, but that avenue has yet to be determined. 😂. What do you think?

I was also able to snag a picture of my charm bracelet. I’m so in love with it and cannot wait to watch it grow!

No rest for the Slates Clan though as we immediately jumped into crafting our Halloween line which is set to launch in about 2-3 weeks. The theme we ran with was Halloween Movies! The kids came up with their ideas weeks ago and chose their scents so we could begin label design. From their they crafted their labels and chose their charms/stickers that accompany each order. This week, all needed supplies came in and the candle making began! We have 5 new mouth-watering and spooky scents we cannot wait to share with everyone.

Life isn’t just about candles and business though. Even with all the candle craze happening, we have still found time for some awesome school projects and even a trip to the zoo! Today we had a first 4-H meeting for Bubs as he transitions from being a Clover Kid to running with the big kids. He tried to run for an officer position right out of the gate, but I asked him to wait a year so he can see how things work and have an understanding of what would be expected of him. EJ also enjoyed her very first meeting as a Clover Kid and cannot wait to go back.

In school, we have been learning more multiplication and division in third grade, while enhancing our counting and basic addition skills in kindergarten and preschool. Language arts has brought along the writing process and growth for all kids in phonics, reading and writing. We are continuing the 50 states in social studies; reaching Georgia, Hawaii and Idaho this week. For science we have launched into a study of the human body. Which has surprisingly become a favorite subject for all the kids! We are enjoying a book called Human Body Activity Book for Kids.

I found this on Amazon and am so thankful I did! Vibrant illustrations on top of super cool facts and a good dose of humor have kept all the kids involved. What I thought would just be for the third grader, has now captivated even the youngest. I’ve also found a busy book series on the human body for littles I plan to bring into the mix next week. It’s full of puzzles, games and so much more. SciShow and Homeschool Pop are great YouTube resources to add on top of any bookwook. Of course never underestimate the opportunities real life gives you!

Furthermore, we brought home a new friend. He’s going to help us with our science module, as well as provide a source of endless entertainment. 😂. Meet Skittles the Skeleton.

When he came home earlier this week, the kids wanted to put him up on one of Ben’s deer mounts to see how long he could hide before Ben noticed. Well, apparently it takes a couple hours. 😂 In his defense, Ben was cooking dinner for us that night and didn’t make it into the living room until later that night. Over a delicious meal of smoked venison steak, twice baked potatoes and corn on the cob, he notices the skeleton pal and busted up laughing. I was so impressed that not a single child had said a word about it. I just new someone would let it slip, but their trick played out to the very end. Well done kiddos!

I’ll have to share the zoo story another night. Tis time for showers and bed around here. Another school day rolling in tomorrow and we need an early bedtime. Sleep well friends! May your week be filled with adventures!

Namaste,

The Slates Family
