The Cutest Little Voices

We start our mornings off by saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Baby Wren has recently nailed it and has been so proud to lead us this week. I was able to catch her most recent performance on video and it was to cute not to share! 😊😊🇺🇸

Being proud of our country and its people has nothing to do with political views, but an understanding that, while not perfect, we are privileged. Right now, our world is full of political battles and economic ups and downs. There is tons that need to be fixed and I think I can speak for all of us when I say I’m fed up with the government and big corporations. However, that doesn’t change that fact that we are lucky to be here. We are lucky to have such brave men and women sacrifice their lives to keep us from dangers we can’t even imagine. We are lucky to have our freedom. Even if you want that image to look different, even if that image needs improvement, we are still lucky to have it. Standing tall to respect our flag and everything it stands for is something I want my children to grow up believing in. We stand for the people who fight for us. We stand for those we have lost in that fight and we stand for those who will serve in the future.

For me, the simplicity of a preschooler being proud of her home and her country is a good reminder of the roots we all share. Those tiny voices remind me of the purity and innocence we all begin with and somehow lose along the way. No matter what political side we believe we stand on, we are all just trying to do what’s right by our families. We are just doing what we feel is best to protect them and their futures. It takes all kinds of kinds to make this crazy world spin. Please remember to be kind as the election grows ever closer. We don’t have to agree with each-other to be respectful. We don’t have to see everything eye to eye in order to be friends. No one makes it out of this alive. Our time here is short, and while I think it’s important to protect our rights, it’s to damn short to spend it wasting good friendships over red vs blue. Here’s your daily reminder to put down the news and the media to simply be present. Take a second to share a drop of kindness with the person next to you. Not everyone goes home to love. Be the light in their darkness.

Namaste,

Sam
