Always Remain a Student

I learn something new every single day. If I have nothing new to share with Ben at the end of the night then I make a point to find something. Maybe it’s the ADHD, maybe it’s just a weird quirk I have picked up. (probably going back to the neurodivergent thing. 😅). Either way, it’s proven to be valuable to me 100% of the time. Tonight’s lesson? Learning to blog on the app. Hell yes! Makes my life a million times easier. Plus this new flex will allow me to share things on the go, since I’m likely to forget later. (ADHD again. 🤦🏼‍♀️). Anyway, I’m super excited about it.

We launched our first round of candles on Etsy today! Furthermore, Bubs sealed the deal of a lifetime for our little gift shop/craft exploring gig. He managed to get permission from a local hair salon and massage parlor to sell our products in their shop!

I wish you guys could have heard him. He was beautifully authentic and just talked about what we have been doing and how much he’s been learning. He brought up our trip to Tybee Island that inspired him to make his newest line (Tybee Sunset) and even took a sample in to share with her. She could see the passion and excitement radiating from him and she dished it right back to him! She even wanted to buy his sample. In the end he brought up the point that she sells stuff in her shop and asked if he could sell his stuff too. She was absolutely amazed by his maturity and knowledge and immediately and excitedly agreed! So, thanks to Bubs people skills and an Angel on earth of a hair dresser, we will be moving our fall line into Shear Attitude with Gina Kafer at the end of this month! 🥳💜 We are humbled by her kindness and honored to be taken in like family. She has been a true blessing from the beginning of our relationship with her and are eternally grateful for her support and generosity. From her patience, understanding and guidance during our own hair excursions to simply being a wonderful friend and now business partner, we could not be more grateful for her and all she has done for us. Thank you Gina! We love you!

In hind sight on the rest of this week, it’s been absolute chaos. Daddy has been working over time and not coming home until really late at night. Which leaves me juggling everything at home, schooling schedules and running the groom salon. (Which fortunately has slowed down enough for us to breath a little.). While everything has went great, we all found ourselves a little on the frazzled side this evening. To much go, go, go. Bubs had went to work with Ben today and they came home exhausted fora quick break before Ben jumped to the next job. The girls played hard all morning in the rain and then helped with candles and school this afternoon. At 5:30pm, we were finally running out the door to make a quick grocery run. That was the moment I realized I didn’t lay anything out to cook. I was exhausted by this point and not feeling like kitchen duty. The kids were getting upset over every little detail and the youngest was walking around holding her blankie against her face. Part of me felt like we needed to wrap up school, but the part of me that knew our limits and understands the value of rest said “movie night.” So, we loaded up, hit the grocery store, grabbed some frozen pizzas and some new stylish slippers, and spent the evening wrapped up together watching the new Trolls movie. It was exactly what we needed.

Sometimes you just have to slow down and rreeeesssttt. Everyone went to bed happy and calm. I learned from my past mistakes that pushing us through the evening in chore or school mode would have resulted in crying kiddos, overstimulated momma and anger from all sides. I’ve learned that kiddos aren’t “trying to give you a hard time, they’re having a hard time.” This has been a mantra of mine in a sorts. It has helped us through so many potential break downs. Not to mention the coping skills they’re learning from it while in the moment! I’m not perfect, really a far cry from it. But I do my best to improve in some way every day. I do my best to listen to them on their level and I do my best to learn from my mistakes. That’s all any of us can really do. Wake up, try your best, learn from your mistakes. Always remain a student.

Anyway, I’m off to bed. We get to join other homeschool families tomorrow for a really great time and a fun adventure. I wish you all peaceful dreams and a night of restful sleep.

Namaste,

Sam
