Ben and I have spent our lives fighting the good fight. Or so we thought. Working long hours with little pay, slaving away for someone else's business and giving our lives away to people who didn't care. One day we woke up and said "ENOUGH!" Sounds easy right? If only it worked that fast. We did break free.  Sometimes, things need to be destroyed in order for something new to grow.  In the end, we came out with an entirely new sense of freedom and self-worth.  We developed boundaries for ourselves and our kids.  We gained a new perspective on life and what we wanted from it and we also grew into a newfound detachment from outcome.  All of this and more has breathed life into the stale existence we had been living. No longer were we in survival mode. We were in LIVING mode! That is how Riverbend Gardens was born.

We have learned so much since we first began schooling at home.  At the top of that list was self-sufficiency, natural medicine and sustainability.  We wanted to bring those things to the homes of others featuring the cleanest, freshest ingredients and with a creative touch.  Our products are goods we have been using for years.  Slowly we began giving them away as gifts and those gifts grew into requests.  Now we are bringing it to the public with a drive to serve others and to help create a better world.

 

The entire point of homeschooling was so these babies could live life with us! We had not been holding up our end of the bargain. With a fresh breeze in our lungs and dancing hearts, we took off with this new vision like lightening. The kids brought new ideas and abilities to the table and ran with it! We have been blown away by their curiosity, their passion and their drive. That's when we decided to bring it to the world. Children are so incredibly talented and intelligent. I think often times, us adults get so caught up in just surviving that we miss it. My hope for our new blog is to inspire other parents to slow down. Take your eyes off social media, put down your phone, tell that boss to shove it. Not only will your kids thank you for it, but you might just heal yourself along the way. Life is to beautiful to spend it holed up in a stagnant pool of energy. Find what you love and let it take over your reality. Riverbend Gardens is literally just an extension of our lives. Things we already make. Things we already use. We simply began offering it to others. Life is as beautiful as you make it. You create your reality. You just have to realize your potential.

Grab life by the reins and take those babies with you. Teach them to reach for the stars and they will teach you how to fly. Happiness is yours for the taking.
